Treatment Overview

Nasolabial folds run from the nose to the mouth corners; marionette lines run from the mouth corners toward the chin. Together they can make a relaxed face read as tired or stern. Soft hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvederm Vollure® and RHA® 3 smooth both.

Because these lines are often caused by midface volume loss, we sometimes recommend treating the cheeks first or together for a more natural, lifted result.

How to Prepare

• Avoid blood thinners such as aspirin, ibuprofen and fish oil for a week if medically safe
• Skip alcohol for 24 hours to reduce bruising
• Arrive without makeup on the treatment area
• Tell us about any upcoming events or dental work

What to Expect

• Assessment of whether the folds need direct filling, cheek support, or both
• Numbing cream, then precise placement along the lines
• Mild swelling for a day or two
• A softer, more pleasant resting expression, final at two weeks

Aftercare

• Avoid touching, massaging or pressure on the area for 24 hours
• Stay upright for four hours after neurotoxin
• Skip strenuous exercise and alcohol for 24 hours
• Ice gently if swollen; bruising fades within a week
